Size and Fitting Guide

Scandic Knots Size & Fitting Guide

It is not only about measurements when it comes to the appropriate size of a rug, but rather about designing the room and making it balanced, comfortable and aesthetically related. Each rug at Scandic Knots is designed to fit perfectly into your home and provide warmth and texture to it. This guide will assist you in knowing how to select the most suitable size, shape and position of your rug such that it fits in your space and furniture.

Positioning & Balance

The size of a rug indicates the mood of a room. Instead of solely concentrating on the floor dimensions, consider where your furniture is in relation to the rug. The correct positioning establishes the connection among the main items - sofas, tables, and chairs - and provides your room with a steady, harmonious appearance. In the case of open floor plans, rugs may also assist in separating areas, thus each one looking and feeling deliberate and characterized.

Size & Comfort

A great rug ought to be comfortable as well as appealing to the eye. You will feel the difference whenever you cross this. Select a large rug that there is space outside the sides of your bed or sofa - the additional area will open up the room to seem more spacious and luxurious. When you get outside the bed, make sure that your feet are on the rug (bedrooms). In the living room, the size should be in such a way that it does not make your sitting space to seem small.

Borders & Patterns

The manner of a rug’s edging can dramatically influence its perception in a room. Rugs with bordered edges project a customized, ancient atmosphere, whereas those with seamless patterns or no borders at all appear to be more contemporary and casual. The edge and pattern will be an addition that will make your rug a leading or a background piece, just think about it.

Standard & Custom Sizes

Our range of standard sizes of the rugs is extensive and accommodates the majority of rooms, starting with narrow runners and going through full area rugs. When your plan is unusual or you have to use unusual furniture, we may make custom sizes of rugs that only fit your plan. Send us the measurements, and we will assist you to find or make a rug that will fit the space just the way you want it to be.

Living Room

Scenario A: To create a unified and opulent appearance, select a carpet that will go under all your furniture. It unites all the pieces of furniture - the couch, armchairs, and coffee table into one welcoming space.
Scenario B: In smaller rooms where the floor space is limited, just the front legs of the sofa and seats on the rug will do the trick of keeping everything aesthetically connected to the visual without overcrowding the space.
Scenario C: To make your rug a design feature, go a little larger than the furniture grouping. Those few extra inches on each side make the room feel more open and intentional.
Scenario D: In the case of L-shaped or sectionalsofa, the rug needs to be expanded under the two arms of the sitting area. It aids in the balance of the shape and does not make the rug an afterthought.

Bedroom

Bedroom A: For a balanced layout, slide the rug partly under the bed so it extends beyond the foot and out to the sides. This placement gives a plush feel underfoot when you get up and helps the bed feel anchored in the room.
Bedroom B: In case of space shortage, place similar runners on both sides of the bed. They are soothing and balanced and leave the appearance of the space clean and uncluttered.
Bedroom C: Would you want something smaller? A footbed rug beneath the bed provides a sense of warmness and colour without occupying the whole space - perfect to combine the texture or display the details of the floor.

Dining Room

Rectangular Table: You should never select a rug where you know that the table and the chairs will not fully rest on it even when the chairs have been moved out. Ideally the size of the rug must at least be 60-75 cm (approximately 2 ft) longer than the table edge to prevent chair legs getting stuck on the edge of the rug.
Round Table: Use the same principle for circular tables. Pick a rug that allows chairs to move freely without slipping off the edge. A round rug that’s a bit wider than the table will enhance flow and symmetry.

Hallways & Custom Shapes

Accidents happen; it is only the speed and accuracy with which you act that counts.

Hallways: A runner that fits the full length of your corridor gives the best result. It draws the eye forward and makes the space feel longer. Leave a slim border of visible floor on each side to frame it neatly.
Custom Shapes: Not every room fits a rectangle. If your space has curves, angled walls, or unique furniture, we can help design a rug with a custom shape or proportion that fits naturally within it.
Stairs: Every staircase is different, so each project is measured individually. We’ll help you choose the right width, discuss how patterns will align, and finish the edges neatly for a perfect fit.
